Today we went into Amsterdam with Daniella and Steve. Daniella drove most of the way and then we caught a tram into the city. We were walking down one of the main streets in Amsterdam when we bumped into Laille. She was meant to come out to Heidi and Frans' house today, but decided to stay in Amsterdam for another night and catch the train to Amersfoot tomorrow. She had a bus tour booked for 2pm so came and had lunch with us first. I had the yummiest hot chocolate at the pub. It came with so much whipped on top. I ate some of the cream off the top with my spoon and then used my cookie to dip it in the rest. After lunch Laille left to go on her bus tour and Steve took us to the main shopping streets. I didn't buy anything for myself, but bought some presents for my family back home. After we had finished shopping we caught the tram back to where we had parked the car, picked up some cold drinks and drove back to Heidi's. I seem to have been drinking lots of apple juice since I got here. I've found it doesn't hurt my tummy as much as orange juice. The Black Sticks were playing the Netherlands at 5.30pm (in the olympics) so we wanted to be back in time to watch the game. It was 2-2 at the end of the game so they went into extra time. Neither team scored during extra time so it went to shoot outs. The Netherlands ending up winning by one goal. I was really disappointed as I would have like to have seen our girls go through to the final, but they played so well and it was a close game. Hopefully they will come away with the bronze. We had dinner on our laps while we watched the game. Heidi cooked a pasta with salmon so we had that for dinner with salad. I'm really enjoying trying different meals while I'm overseas. I'm looking forward to Greek food again too. It was always so fresh and full of flavor while we were in Corfu, so hopefully it's just as yummy when we go back to the Greek Islands. Heidi and Frans are going to have a coffee with Paul's grandparents tonight. They're camping only 15 minutes away from where they live. Apparently Paul's oma doesn't like rain or thunder and lightning so every time it rains she wants to go back home. We were going to go and visit them, but Paul has said he's too tired so I'm going to do some washing and catch up on my travel diary xx
