Tallinn - a day of boats and towers! Had a later start which was nice as we had the apartment so could do as we wanted. Much more grey today so got the bus to the seaplane harbour and looked around the museum there at boats and planes, went on a submarine simulator and climbed on some more boats! Back to the old town and found a nice chocolate shop so sampled some yummy handmade chocolates, then spent the afternoon climbing towers and seeing the sights in the old town. Started at Toompea castle, visited the cathedral, Dome church (about 150 steps), town wall (more steps), Epping tower (medieval costumes and catapults), St.Olav's church - many more steps (over 200!) and traffic jams on spiral staircases - and lastly 'Fat Magaret' canon tower which houses the maritime museum. Lots of nice views of the town even though it was a bit rainy.
Dinner we had in the town square where we sampled traditional Estonian herring and Vana Tallinn liquor, and were served by some very unenthusiastic waiters who didn't want to be there!
