We loooooveee Austria!!!! We have decided to stay an extra night at Bistro's B&B. The B&B is extremely good value for money and it is situated about 2kms from the centre of Innsbruck at the base of the snow capped mountains. The breakfast is great with caffe latte machiattos, boiled eggs, yoghurt, cereal and fruit. Each morning we say "Givench to me eine ei danke" which we think means give me one egg thanks in German! We managed to get rid of our dirty washing! It smells so fresh! We managed to get away with 4 euros for a wash and an additional 2 euros to dry! They threw in free washing powder and fabric softener! Yes! After our chores we decided that if we were going to be tourists in any town, this is probably the one to do it in! We bought two Innsbruck cards for 28 euros each which gave us unlimited access to all attractions and transport for 24 hours! We made sure we didn't lose! First we made our way up the mountain to Hungerberg via train. On the train we managed to find another Aussie friend James. He was from Northern Sydney. James told us we weren't real backpackers as Zoe and I sipped lattes in our matching leather jackets as we made our way up the mountain. He did however give us some good advice as to where to go in Europe and things to see. He also told us that hostels were not so bad and gave us the name of a good one in Munich. We then left Hungerberg which is a small own midway up the mountain via cable car to the top. The view was breathtaking! We could see everything and it felt like we were literally on the top of the world! It was a great opportunity to get some spectacular scenic photos. Zoe and James got on particularly well. Probably because they were as "special as each other". Both walked over the fresh snow and ended up waist deep. I showed more sense and kept dry! Zoe immediately feared that she would die an early death from frostbite and ran inside to run warm water over her hands and sit by the heater. James on the other hand doesn't do anything half heartedly. He asked me to film him as he dived head first into the snow. It completely swallowed him but I did get some good shots! Lucky I was there to lend him a hand or he would still be there! We then wondered through the streets of Old Town where we stumbled upon the City Tower. This is a tall historic tower that once housed jail cells. The view from the top was pretty cool but did not match the view from the mountain. After the City Tower, we needed to catch the 3 p.m bus to Swarovski Crystal World. The place was pretty cool, but the crazy art didn't really appeal to us. We mostly enjoyed playing in the maze and the mechanical musical theatre. After Swarovski we headed back into Town to find some dinner. It was freezing so we each bought ourselves a beanie and gloves! Trust me we needed them! CNN reckons that this is going to be a record winter with record lows recorded in October. They say that December temparatures have been seen this week! Our strategy was to get an early night as we still had until 11.40 the following morning to use our Innsbruck card. We visited a museum and the architectural brilliance of the Olympic Ski Jumping arena. Even I, being the amazing skier that I am was terrified to look down. I can't believe people fly down that slop and launch high into the air before landing in front of a huge audience! Not sure how there knees take it, but once again the visit was very interesting and offered more great photo opportunities. Later in the afternoon we walked the street markets before we had built up our appetites. We found some Kiddie food bags at Billa which is the Austrian version of Bi-Lo. Why pay more? We paid 2.79 Euro each for a water, bag of chips, gummy bears and a sandwich. Mine had 3 pieces of ham on and Zoe's had 7 slices of cheese! Not sure that it was intentional but we entered into a trade arrangement and ended up with a ham and cheese sandwich. Zoe is now stuffing her face with chips while I write this blog. We are now heading to the Internet to book our next leg which will most likely be Munich Germany where we will be staying at Wombats backpackers. We are hoping to catch the 10.30 train after breakfast tomorrow.

Cheryl We knew you would love Innsbruck and you'll love Munich too. Try to get to Rothenburg on the Romantic Road and to Oberammergau; definitely worth the trip! Great blog and fantastic photos. Miss you. Mom and Dad
