Well, I went to the wedding just north of San Fran, great view of the city. Wedding was fun, nothing too crazy. Watched the Bills get punished by the Cards on Sunday, definitely a terrible loss. But the Bills are still going to go undefeated, and win the Super Bowl, that's right.
After my little stint in the Bay Area it was time to shove off for Yosemite National Park. Much like Yellowstone, it is big, wild, and takes forever to get anywhere in. There were rock formations and waterfall areas, and all of it that we saw was very beautiful. However, I felt overall Yellowstone was more interesting, but that Yosemite was just great to wander around and view. We saw people climbing El Cap and could just pan around to see Half Dome. Definitely a great place to just take in the sights. Most of the waterfalls were dried up for the season, but the hikes were still decent. Glacier Point was really awesome, and if I ever start BASE jumping I know a perfect spot to go... The best hike was that of Sentinel Dome. It wasn't a difficult hike, but the view from the top is 360 panaramic glory. Half Dome, Liberty Cap, El Cap, and Cathedral Rock all from the top. Definitely worth the trip.
After Yosemite, we headed on to Sequoia National Park, The Giant Forest. It kind of reminded me of the wow factor of going to the Badlands, you see nothing at all and get anxious to arrive and BAM these monsterous trees are springing up all over the place. Easily the most impressive forest on the trip. These trees were insanely huge, apparently the largest in the world, and I get that after being next to them. It's also interesting how we were told they can only grow in a very sensitive environment that not only is definited by the regional climate, but elevation as well. It was very clear to see this fact as the road up to the forest varied in elevation and with that you would fall in and out of areas where these trees actually were growing! During our trip to this Super Sized forest we were lucky enough to safely see 5 bears! I've never seen some of the wildlife as I have on this trip in it's natural habitat, but this was really cool. One guy was smart enough to try to get somewhat close to one of them and it chased him off a little. Crazy at the time, but funny looking back. We continued thru the forest and saw the biggest tree in the world General Sherman. It was pretty cool, but I thought the forest overall was just as impressive.
So now, my mother will be flying out in the morning and I'll be driving to Vegas to pick up my roommate Mr. Dan Simpson. The time I've spent with my mother and the weekend with my father has been great, I'm glad they could join me and share in this experience. I'm also glad to be picking up Simpson, the road is starting to get a little long, and someone that is fresh on the trip will definitely help pick up the pace. But this trip has been great, and I'm glad I'm doing it. I've seen a ton, thought a lot, and reevaluated a lot of things in my life, especially during the times I've spent alone or in the wild.
Thank you to all that have been keeping in touch and following along, I appreciate it and hope you continue to do so.
I'm over the halfway point, starting to head back east, and tomorrow WE'RE GOING TO VEGAS BABY, VEGAS!
Had to say it, Swingers...
