pastaza province, Ecuador
Hola everybody...
I have decided to write a little info in a blog as the amount of indididual notes i am writing out is becoming more and more difficult.
So far i have spent 5 weeks in Quito studying spanish alongside visitng places at the weekends . Some of the most amazing places that i have visited so far . The lovely forest of mindo being able to hold a giant blue butterfly. That is one of the strange significant things over here and that is the size of the insects ginormous.. specially the tarantualas well mini tarantualas that creep into our dorm aaaaahhh one moment they are there the next it is as if they have just dissappeared leaving you fretting in bed as to whether they are at large in the dorm still.
I am in the pastaza province at the moment an area of a lot of jungle and rainforest... looking after jungle animals. This includes cappuchinos - monkeys.. some of which are really aggresive that you have to look out just where they are gong to jump, the incredibly cuddly coati number 2 , the perilous peccaris and the really noisy parrots .
The work althouygh sometime exhausting and very literally smelly is really rewarding ! The other day we went on a bit of a jungle trek to see the cocoa trees and corn plantations which was really cool. They were planted on the side of a mountain or hill near the new volunteer centre.. I definately felt a little like pocahontus like picking the corn from its sheafs. we had to cross a major landslide on the way an entire half of the mnountain had fallen off and trailed itself halfway down the hill.
