2 days to go
So, 2 days from now I will be on my way to Madrid :] I'm excited, and only a little scared. I have done the whole leaving home and knowing no-one thing already when I left to go to uni, so this will not be a complete shock to me!
I fly out on Tuesday evening with my parents, who will stay in a hotel close to my apartment until Sunday. This means that I can take extra luggage with me, which has already proved to be useful. Yesterday we did most of the packing, and I have 3 suitcases, of the maximum weight for BA (23kg), 2 small hand luggage suitcases, a small overnight bag, a laptop bag and my handbag!!
I will be met by my landlady at the hotel my parents are staying at on Tuesday evening, who will bring her car and take me back to the apartment. I went out to Madrid 2 weeks ago with my dad and found the apartment, which I'm so glad I did, as it's nice to know I have somewhere to sleep when I get there! It is a duplex apartment located in the Arganzuela region of Madrid, in the Palos de Moguer region. It is south of the city centre, and about 10mins walk to Atocha station, where I will take the train to work.
I will be sharing the apartment with the landlady, Isabel, who is 30 years old, and very lovely - I think she will look after me!! And the other room will be taken by a 21 year old Danish guy, who is a student also on his year abroad, and working at the Danish Embassy; I've not met him yet though!
On Wednesday, I think I will just spend the day unpacking with the help of my parents and find the nearest supermarket etc, and also try and open a bank account.
Thursday and Friday morning I have orientation, organised by the Spainish Ministry of Education, and then probably spend Saturday doing touristy things with my parents.
Hasta Luego
