So, after a year of silence, and absence from the beautiful samba&football country I'm back!!! :)
It was quite a trip I tell you. Leaving Maastricht at 22:00 heavily packed with things for the fundação I set off on the first leg of the journey. Train to SCHIPHOL, where I spent a very cosy couple of hours (trying) to sleep on the Departure Hall 1 floor. Then finally at 4:30 I could check in and pass security. After an uneventful three hour trip, I landed in Lisbon and met up with my grandparents for a couple of hours. Oh and know that I was a ball ofnerves and could barely getz a bite down my throat ;) but anyways we had a lovely stroll along the Parque das Nações (EXPO 1998 Lisbon grounds) and a beautiful lift ride over the river Tejo. After a hurried lunch disturbed by a minor schoolwork emergency, I said goodbye to my grandparents and stepped on the plane to Campinas, São Paulo airport. Again an uneventful flight, except for some "lovely" French neighbours who utterly and completely thought they were royalty. They were a family of 5 occupying 12 seats, whilst a row behind them a family of 4 plus a lap kid occupied 4 seats... anyone else see the injustice of this?? Oh it was funny to see how the wife got furious at her husband at ths end of the flight because he'd slept through the entire flight and she'd only managed 1 hour (out of the 10) and then how filling in thee Brazilian entry card he could't remember his kids' birthdates. Idiot. Anyways, at Campinas another sleepless night awaited me. Especially when a planefull of Nigerian football fans invaded the hall at 2 in the morning -.- my flight was only at 5:45 so thanks for the consideration gringos (brazilian word for foreigners)
And then finally I arrived at my final (for now) destination.
And then the hotel... after an unsuccessful attempt at first time couchsurfing due to football fever, I thought I'd found the perfect hotel, not ridiculously expensive and close to my friends... well let's just say I'll be sleeping with earplugs and a firmly locked door, if you get what I mean... ;) and no after dark outside wanderings either... might give away the wrong message :D that's all for now! Read the next blog on the wonderful city of Brasília!
