Erica's travels through Eastern Europe and Russia
St. Petersburg, Russia - I've now finally entered the G8 Conference. I was a bit worried this morning after coming straight home from the club at 5.30am, leaving immediately for the G8 and finding out I was totally on the wrong side of the city; that I had to pick up my pass 2 hours away. Well, 4 hours later I picked up my pass (to my amazement), and jumped on a high speed boat to the international press center and its many benefits -- free food, internet, ice cream, and a tee-shirt.
And I just missed a Bush-Putin Press Conference because I honestly had no idea where I even was, let alone finding out where the conference was! But the lunch was honestly very nice. The nearly entirely temporary-build structure holds up very well for the over 2000 journalists. I've seen numerous highly ranked journalists from England, and even some faces I feel like I recognize. Who knows?
Everyone is running around like they really have things to do. Maybe.. I should follow the pack? I go now - and when I write, I might actually have something tangible to say about the G8.
