Boxng day is another lazy one by the pool.

Later in day we have some cocktails then sit in the cover of our roofed terrace at the hotel to watch the ferocious tropical downpour with accompanying thunder and lightening. Fortunately it stops early evening so we take a short trip on the local bus to El Avion restaurant a couple of km out of town. This place is built around the body of an "unofficial" American military aircraft which was the sister plane of the one shot down over Nicaragua in 1986 while trying to smuggle arms to the Nicaraguan rebel forces.

The sole survivor was captured and he exposed the under cover actions of the CIA in Nicaragua and what would subsequently became known as the Iran-Contra Affair. The quirky bar is in the fuselage with the nose of the air craft pointing out towards the main road and the restaurant at the back where we have a table overlooking the forest and the Pacific.
