More of Chinaaa.
After Shanghai, we went to Xi'an. Asmall city of 8 million. Tiny thing. In Xi'an we went to some markets, bikes on the city wall (which was really neat) aand went to see the Terracotta Army. Impressive s*** right there. 8000 clay soldiers guarding an ancients emperors tomb. Its good to be king.
After Xi'an, we went to a cruise through the Three Gorges. This part I likes a lot. Just a couple of days to chill on a rives, drifing through nice scenery, drinking, generally just having downtime fromall the constant "going from here to there to there to there". After the cruise, we went for Yangshou, whichby FAAAAR was my favourite part of the China trip. Limestone mountains, beautiful countryside, rivers, caves... Ahhh, it was nice. We spent the time there biking through the countryside, taking mudbaths and going to hotsprings inside a giant cave-complex, eating delicious lunch with a farmer, drinking, souvenir shopping, and other nice stuff. After Yangshou, it was off to Hong Kong. We spent a couple of days there, as the tour came to an end. We said our goodbyes, as the people of the group split up, some going home, others heading of to other placesin Asia. I had 4 more days in Hong Kong, days I mainly spent semi-planning what to do in Malaysia. Oh, and I stayed at a YWCA (Young Women Christian Association) hostel on Man Fuk Road. Mhm. Hillllaaarious.
All in all,I have to say that China was a very interesting experience. It was not like what I expected at all. Far less developed and the psysche was far from what we are used to in the west, though it is changing. If you know the history, you know why the people act as they do, and why they can come of as rude, brash and down right nasty. But again, a very interesting experience I wouldn't be without.
Then... MALAYSIA.
