I'm sitting out on the patio at George's house on the hillside of a village in Greece called Vivari. The village is a small fishing town with a couple thousand people. George's house is a beautiful mansion on 2 floors with a lot of stone and wood. There is an upper and a lower patio that overlook the sea.
Last night we went out for delicious burgers in a larger town, Nafplio, about 20 minutes away by car. We sat at a road side restaurant, stray dogs laying at our feet. Apparently it's a problem in Greece where people get pets, decide they dont want them and then drop them off out in the country. It makes for some interesting wildlife. George's stray cat "Cat", comes to feed several times a day, her mangy, spoked out kittens in tow. We follow our late night meal with a visit to a small, funky local bar. I was soooooo tired from my day flying all over Europe and my 4am bedtime seemed early, but necessary.
This morning, I happily slipped on my master's dress, aptly named because I would wear it for days on end while doing large projects... it was part of the process. It has been burning a hole in my bag while I have been tromping around all those cloudy cities!
There is no water. It is fairly limited to begin with but something has gone wrong and George has ordered a truck to come up and fill his tank. We'll see what happens there.
The plan for today consists of getting me some flippers and swimming across the water to this church on the point. It looks like a great swim. Then probably beaching and eating and I'll throw in some reading to mix it up.
