Hey!!
We caught the bus from the centeral bus station in KL to the airprt which took about an hr and cost 2 pound. Once we got to the airport we checked in pretty quickly and went through to the departure lounge which didnt have much at all apart form duty free and a small cafe, so we grabbed some food then sat waiting for our flight. There was an announcement to say it had been delayed for a bit, then about 45mins later we heard another announcement for our flight so everyone jumped up and there was a big que, so me and mike just waited until it all went down, mike then went to get a bottle of water and what would normally take like 2 min always takes Mike at least 10 lol! As he went I heard my name on the loudspeaker and the plane was waiting for us and the big que earleir was for the flight next to ours haha. So im rushing round trying to find mike to get him to hurry and i couldnt find him, so went towards the gate and he is just casually stood there chilling as normal, we made the flight just!, it was 3 hrs. I sat next to an english guy called Harry and a KL guy, he was telling me that if you are caught with drugs in Kl you are executed, usually hung, but the locals keep loads of cash on them so if there is a raid they pay the police to save them being killed (WARNING...dont have drugs on you out here lol !!!) We then played a few card games. Mike was sat in the row next to me playing DS the whole way!
Once we arrived we went to a travel agents at the airport and booked our first night. The money here is hard to get your head round after already having a mixture of baht and malaysian money on us, everything seems so expensive as its in thousands and millions but its cheap! We got another mad taxi ride 10 mins to our hotel in Kuta. It was just off the main strip which is full of bars and resturants, shops etc. We arrived about 9pm, dumped our bags and went straight out. We went for dinner at the Kopi Pot, Mike had traditional indonesion food, which was fried rice with a fried egg on top, some chicken satay and few other bits. We then took a wander to see what was around, found some accomodation for our next 2 nights and went for a couple of drinks in a really nice bar. We also saw the memorial of the 2002 bombings here, the majority of ppl killed were ozzys. Bali is like a holiday destination for ozzys so there are loads of them here.
Thailand and Bali are very similar in many ways, certain foods, the roads and the way they drive out here, especially all the mopeds etc, ppl constantly trying to sell stuff to you or give you a massage, but Kuta seems more modern and clean, the bars and restuarants are nicer here, whereas Thailand is less commercialised to a certain extent.
Last night we went out for food again, i had battered chicked in a honey and chilli sauce with steamed rice, it was AMAZING and cost less than 2 pound! Today, me and Mike got up, had brekkie which was included in our room price, which is always good! We have been sunbathing and relaing by the pool and beach all day, our pool where we are staying is really nicem, the best pool we've had! We are heading to Ubud 2moro by bus I think and goping to do more touristy stuff there as it is more like a holiday destination in Kuta.
Thats all for now! Its so hard writing these blogs as there is o much to say and we often miss alot out!
