14 hours by bus...That's a loooong way. But when Im looking at the map I get confused. I haven't gotten that far up. Australia is really huge. The distance between one place to another can look minor on the map but in real life that means many, many hours on the road.
So finally we reached Byron Bay after about 14 long hours. At 7 pm we left Sydney (for now) and at around 4 am I finally got some sleep. I tried, believe me I triiiiiied hard to sleep. I had all the necessary equipment, such as a pillow, "earplugs" and a cover over my eyes but nothing helped. It's just thanks to pure exhaustion that I got any sleep at all. So I sleeped on and off til about 7 am when the bus stopped for a 40 minute brake. Lovely.
Backpackers adore Byron Bay. I've heared so many good things about it; you're gonna loooove Byron, it's the best place in Australia. And I do understand why, the beach is gorgeous and I guess the nightlife seems like fun for those who enjoy that. But besides from that It's just a village by the beach really. Today we took a walk and ended up at the Cape Byron Lighthouse which lies at the most easterly point in Australia. The view was amazing. We'd heared that it was a pretty good chance of spotting dolphins along the coast up there as well but they went into hiding. Damn dolphins!
