Our trip was exceptionally well planned.... Ha! No chance of that we are officially lastminute.com!! The furthest I had thought about this trip was to book the bus from Nairobi to Kampala!!
We set off early monday morning, the usual african bus journey commenced a couple of hours late followed by longer than planned travel time. Something you get used to after a while!
Shardy joined us for the first week here in Uganda, a night in Kampala, a day out to Entebbe, a walk through the busiest and craziest but at the same time relaxed atmosphere of Kampala city centre. Many dangerous boda boda journeys (motorbike taxis' iof which I bear the scars!!) then it was Jinja time!
White water rafting and quad biking was the order of play for the next few days! Awesome place for adrenaline activities!! We had a great time. Swimming in the Nile was immense, you had to keep reminding yourself where you were!!
Uganda is a great place, very green and scenic. The people have great character, relaxed but hardy people. Growing up in Uganda has built very strong people! There are so many attractions here and the counrty has some of the best hostels around. It is certainly a place for backpackers!
Once we said our goodbyes to Shardy we began making plans for the rest of the trip.. Back to Kampala for Kenya v Uganda Rugby! It was strange to see that although this was a big international no-one knew anything about it!!! We managed to find our way to the stadim (loosest sense of the word) for what turned out to be a great day of entertainment! We managed to get our hands on the Elgon Cup(?) which Kenya eventually won!! Whoop! The atmosphere was so friendly and carnival like! Everyone was having a great time, exactly how it should be!
From here we made plans to hed to Fort Portal, a great base to see Kibale Forest and the Crater Lakes! A bike ride later and all was complete... The toughest bike ride ever!! Dirt track roads, hill after steep hill and one gear led to a painstaking task.. But Im pleased to say we made it feeling very good about our efforts! We were taking to see Mahoma Waterfall by a local boy and his mum, a great 'tour guide'
We are now heading towards Bwindi.....
