I have now been here for almost two weeks! and what a ride it has been! last week began international student orientation where I went to different workshops about the uni life and life in Adelaide. I met so many amazing people. I can't even remember the last time I was able to talk to people so easily and meet people this way. I have made friends from all over the world. Each with their own story and way of life. Its so interesting to me to listen to everyone talk about their home countries and share differences and similarities between countries.
One of my goals for this study abroad was not only to learn more about myself but to be able to open up more and come out of my comfort zone. I believe that I have done that at this point. I have become more open to talking to people and starting conversations. Before, I would almost always wait for someone to strike a conversation with me. I feel that being here it just came natural because everyone wanted to meet people and make friends. Its strange because in a way we did the same thing at orienation in college and fish camp. However, here it just feels different and easier. Its amazing to hold conversations with people from around the world because you always have something to talk about or carry the conversation. I love holding conversations with people here and getting to know them and where they come from.
I am in great spirits the last two weeks! Ive been on many adventures went to my first pub. Ordered my first drink at a bar. Went to the gorgeous Glenelg beach a few times now. Pet a koala. Fed many kangaroos. Swam with dolphins. Took a catamaran out in the ocean. Played volleyball in the middle of the city. Travled to a small coastal town. Saw the worlds tiniest penguins being fed. The list goes on!
Adelaide is an amazing place and I absolutely love having the opportunity to live in the city. right in the center of everything. I walk everywhere with the occasional tram to the beach or the other side of the town if I'm feeling lazy.
Uni finally starts next Monday so I'm looking forward to my classes and the start of the semester. I am worried that maybe my classes will be to hard and that I'll struggle. But I am hoping for the best and have found tutoring options through the Uni to help. I have become relatively acquainted to campus as the days have gone on. I still need to walk the campus to know exactly where my classes are but I do not feel stressed about that. I hope to continue to meet people and make friends and hopefully meet more Aussies.
Life is good! Cheers :)
