on the 27th feb we took the bus from penang to kuala lumpar which actually took about five hours but we've learnt not to trust asian public transport time tables. we circled the city a few times in a minivan on the way to the main coach stop again picking up peoples dry cleaning and extra passengers etcetc. on the coach to (lumps as me and jess like to call it) we were the only white kids apart from two finnish lads who were pretty nice and ended up staying in the same scummy hostel as us. in kuala lumpar we spent most of our time pottering around china town bargain hunting and winding up the blokes on the stalls. definatelyt the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
on the morning of the 28th we rose early to go to the petronas twin towers (once the tallest building in the world) to go on the sky bridge. we arrived about half 8
to collect tickets for the 12:30 tour. we ended up walking around the shopping centre under the towers for about 3 hours perving all the designer clothes and eating dodgey asian take on french pattisserie fare. the towers were quite impressive but a bit dissapointing as you only got a few minutes on the sky bridge. kuala lumpar doesnt have a particularly interesting sky line. but at least it was free. git was baking hot so after we chilled out in the shade in the park by a paddling pool and felt sorry for all the muslim kids in their weird little swimsuits that cover them from head to toe. in the evening we went to chinatown and bought a couple of perfumes each. haggled them down from about 18 quid each to 4 quid each :) such professionals. in the evening we watched a few films including slumdog. which was pretty good. unfortuneately there was a seriously annoying weird bloke who apparently had seen the film 5 times in one day at the cinema and kept telling us what was going to happen. dickhead.
on the first of march we went round chinatown again looking for some fake designer bags at bargain prices. we didnt buy anything but found a few potential beauties. i also realised my card had been blocked so much fun was had being but on hold to barclays in some weird indian travel shop. nine pounds later it was all sorted.
we went back to the hostel and watched some more films. whilst watching tv we met a lad called noah ( teehee) from colorado or something so he came out for some dindins with us and some more bag shopping which was HILARIOUS. it absolutely pissed it down. ive never seen harder rain. me and jess bought some sweet handbags. jess sent hers home and im using mine for hand luggage. noah was eager to learn all about handbags and kept winding up the stall owners saying he wanted the biggest watch possible. the size of some of the watches they had were ridiculous. we went to a reggae club with him after to dry off a bit. twas chockablock with lady boys and was too expensive so me and jess watched him drink his beer before going back to the hostel and watching more tv.
