Helloo!!
Apologies i haven't updated in AGES... i've been pretty busy in the north!
So since i last updated i flew north for Chiang Mai. I realised it was pretty extravagant flying but i could not be bothered with the 24/5/6 hour bus journey up! The north is known for being really chilled out and i saw that vibe straight away. Even though Chiang Mai is a pretty big city, it was still so much nicer that Bangkok.
I only stayed three nights but packed quite a bit in. I met two guys... from Canadaand Scotland and i've stuck with them since. We went to chiang mai zoo which was incredible. Health and safety isn't quite the same here so you can get really up close and personal. For an entry fee of 2 pounds, we spent 5 hours wandering round because the place was massive! We saw pandas, tigers, leopards, lians, monkeys, elephants, giraffes etc etc... the list goes on. But either way it was pretty cool.
The next day i did an elephant trek. I was lucky enough to get my own elephant called Boon Rod and he was 6. he had an amazing character and acted like a cocky teenager and always always wanted to be at the front so was overtaking at any possible moment. I also kicked my flip flops off at the beginning and he picked one up and gave it back... one of the cutest things ever. So elephants are amazing and so nice natured. we bathed them and played with them and fed them. the whole day was incredible.
I really enjoyed the night life in the city too. We mostly found rooftop bars with chilled out music. There were the seedy areas but i suppose that's the same with any city....
So the next day we moved on to Pai which is where i am now. I absolutely love it here and right now i don't want to leave! the atmosphere is so so cool. It's mostly untouched and so peaceful and beautiful. I have been recommended it by people i've met along the way and im pretty grateful for that!
I'm staying in a bungalow for about 1.50 a night and even though there are a lot of bugs.. it's really pretty cool. My last two days have consisted of hiring a moped and exploring pai, climbing a canyon and watching the sunset and swimming in a waterfall. It's been cool to properly explore here and all with great company. I can't really complain and i'm looking forward to my next few days her!
