After an uncomfortable nights sleep we headed back in Freda (we named the car because it was the coolest name we could think of......) and on the road. First stop was Chemainus, a town famous for its murals. Around lunch time we hit Port Alberni, but after checking at the locak tourist office we headed 20k down the road to Sproat Lake to picnic. And we loved it, it was so hot and everyone was there having a good time. We were so taken in by the vibe that we rushed into the car to get to Tofino- a beach town know for its surf and beach scene.
Aas we approached, however, we could see bad news; a sea fret that was making it and everyone in the town miserable. We went for a walk, but there was nothing there to do, I guess if you didn't want to or could get on the beach then it was a no show.
We headed to Uclulet, just along the road, where we were staying for the night. We couldn't check in for 2 hours so we went to a pizzeria and grill and had a couple of drinks, we left knowing that we would probably be back there for dinner, as it was a bit of a ghost town.
We arrived at the hostel, first sign of something was different about this hostel was the notice to take off outdoor shoes at the door, next sign was the notice of ALL the rules, and 3rd and most obvious was the manager who checked us in, laying down the law. "No outdoor shoes, no loud noises, front door locked at 10pm (kitchen enterance is always open though if you do want to go out later)" Krista put it best when she called it the Geek Hostel!
We headed back t othe restaurant and as we were getting out of the car the waiter called over to us, "you ladies left something behind!" "oh what?" was our reply. "Some bikini bottoms" Myslef and Krista looked at each other, bemused, then Kay chips in, "What?? what did qwe leave behind?" Meedeless to say Kay did not live it down, all meal, well all trip really. The best bit was when it came to the bill, "you ladies want... separates?" and then bottoms arrived in the bill wallet! Priceless!
