I'm now in beautiful Cairns and having a great time. The sun is constantly shining and days are generally spent relaxing by the lagoon, taking walks along the palm tree lined esplanade and drinking banana smoothies in the many cafes along the waterfront.
I'm staying in a youth hostel with some girls from my previous tour and we've had lots of fun exploring the many things Cairns has to offer, including the infamous Woolshed!!
Since being here I have snorkelled out on the Great Barrier Reef which was a truely amazing experience and I'm thrilled to say that I managed to fulfill one of my objectives of this trip, to swim with nemo! It was fantastic.
We also hired a car and took a roadtrip along the coast line up to Cape Tribulation, one of the few places in the world where rainforest meets beach, a beautiful bounty-advert-like beach. Along the way we stopped at Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge, Wongi beach (a completely deserted beach with coconut trees, pure white sand and crystal clear water) and Daintree National Rainforest. All quite amazing and I think from the pictures you will see why. Definitely another highlight of my travelling experience.
My last day in Cairns and then I board the Oz Bus to make my way down the Sunshine Coast. First stop Mission Beach!
