It's a week and a half in and I've finally got time to sit down and write an entry. My time in Canada so far has been hectic and on the go! I spent 5 days in Toronto with Mishy and Alex which was awesome! We went to Niagara on the first day which was amazing. It's completely breathtaking and words definitely don't even begin to do it justice. I took a gazillion photos which I've uploaded on here :) Im heading back to Niagara with Alex and her parents so will go on the Maid of the Mist then, which is the boat that takes you right up to the falls. I'm super keen for that. In Toronto we also went to the Science Centre to see the Harry Potter Exhibit because we're mass nerds ha it was awesome :) Ahhh, we watched soccer games at the pub, went to the Eaton Centre which is this insanely massive shopping centre, the size of a small country. It was overwhelming, I've since been back again and I still think I've only seen like a tenth of it ha
Toronto is an amazing city with so much going on. It's overwhelming when you first arrive, and takes a while to kind of settle in. Im keen to get settled and then explore as there is so much to look at. It's so, so multi cultural, way more then back home. Like every country is represented with a little section of the city like 'Little Italy' and 'Chinatown' and 'Korea town' and all that. That's pretty cool :) It doesnt get dark til 10 at night which is awesome but so hard to get used to....it stays at like twilight for hours...so you keep thinking its about 5 in the afternoon. I reckon I'll just get used to it and then it'll be winter and it's the opposite, it starts getting dark at like 5 ha Other major differences I have noticed...hmm. I keep asking for capsicum at subway and getting looked at like a loser. Note to Australians, they're called peppers. Driving on the other side of the road still gets me everytime, I keep looking the wrong way when crossing the road. You get massive cokes for a dollar during the summer. Big HI 5 to Canada for that one! There's amazing old builidings in Toronto which is really beautiful. They're not even anything special, like just normal churches are ridiculously old and really cool. I keep finding myself taking photos of random churches. It's so obvious how new Australia is compared to places like this.
I caught the bus to Ottawa on Monday and have been staying with Alex and the family she nannys for ever since. They are super cool so it's been awesome hanging out here...Im off to Montreal tomorrow on the bus for the night...its only 2 hours away from here and Im really keen to go. I'm doing a 2 hour bus tour that goes around the whole city, plus visiting a photography musuem and a Holocaust musuem so it should be super interesting. I'll be back in Ottawa Friday then am heading to this Chalet on the river Saturday for the day which will be awesome then I'm back to Toronto Sunday. I'll write my next blog when I'm back from Montreal :)
The end.
