Hi Guys,
After a slightly better night's sleep we awoke to another sunny morning in KL city.
We had a Batu caves tour booked with a few English and 2 Dutch people, who we had fun communicating with. After a long and sweaty journey in a mini-bus, where the air-con wasn't working, we finally arrived at the entrance to the Batu Caves.
The Batu caves house a Hindu Temple. The caves are formed out of limestone rock that is approximately 4 million years old.
After making the 272 step climb to the caves entrance, we discovered about another 80 steps to the temple - not funny when we had used all our energy just to get there. It was worth it though, even dodging the angry monkeys that were loitering on the steps, to see the veiws inside the caves and out over KL. Lee nearly got jumped by a monkey, so we decided we had better make our decent back to the bus.
Back in the sauna (also known as our mini-bus), we made our way back through KL's gridlocked streets and were dropped at the Petronas Towers. Where we booked our visit to the Skybridge that evening. We made our way to a bar and bistro, The Rum Jungle, for a few beers and a BBQ lunch of steak and chicken, yum yum. This gave us enough energy for the 30 minute walk back to the hotel.
Whilst getting ready for our Skybridge tour a monsoon hit and passed the city. The weather here is hot and humid all day and night, and the heat hit us every time we went outside. It tends to be sunny in the morning, have a massive downpour in the afternoon, and then dry up again in the evening.
The Petronas Towers stand @ 452m above street level, with 88 storeys, as the number 8 is believed to bring infinite good luck. Each tower has 29 double decker high speed lifts, travelling at one floor every second.
After our 41 second trip in the lift, to the 41st floor, the doors opened to the magnificant skybridge, that connects the 2 towers - 170m above the streets of KL. We had about 10 minutes on the bridge, as these tickets are free - but very limited, so made the most of the time looking at the spectacular views and taking photos.
After our petronas experience we thought we desevered an ice cream and a doughnut, and then decided to walk it off by making the trek back to our hotel by foot - AGAIN!! We didn't quite make it back to the hotel as felt the need to stop of at the local Irish bar for a few 'Happy Hour' Tiger Beers.
We finally got back to the hotel, worn out from another hectic day.
We are now in the airport waiting to board our flight to Adelaide.
Speak to you all when we get to Australia.
Love Emma and Lee
