We arrived today at Phuket airport and were greeted by tropical storms, unfortunately these storms lasted for the whole two days we spent in Phuket.....bummer!!! On the taxi journey we saw three elephants walking down the road, very strange but great to see none the less.
We arrived at our hotel which was Nicky's handlebars, a bikers hotel where the owner, Nicky is obsessed with all things fast, there was a yellow Lamborghini parked in the drive way. The hotel was plush and modern with a well stocked mini bar (due to the rain we took full advantage of this).
Now onto Patong itself, if you can imagine Blackpool or Southend on sea in a hot tropical storm you've got Phuket down to a tee!! Every thirty seconds someone is asking whether you want to buy a suit which is fine for the first couple of times but then gets a bit annoying. There is nothing "Thai" about Patong and yo could easily be anywhere.
Patong by night is crazy a mixture of old men with young Thai girls hanging off their arms and strips clubs galore, the lady's / ladyboys in the bars are a site to see but they use any trick to get money from tourists thankfully we got wise to this, well everyone apart from Geoff who agreed to by four of the lady's a lady drink when they took us to the ice bar.
We got a taxi which in Phuket Is a rascal van with the back chopped off and seats inside, hilarious as they all play music really loudly - good experience though.
Then there were the tattoo shops, oh and our stupid boyfriends who decided to get tattoos on their bottom lips!!
The following day we went for a walk along the beach. Yes, it was still tipping down and this point so it was soggy flip flops all round. Dodging puddles and cars and bikes was a mission when your feet are soaked and your trying not to slide out of your flip flops. It tipped down on the beach and so we decided to book our. Ferry boat to phi phi.
We also went to the famous Simon Cabaret. Joe and Em loved it, we thought it was very cheesy, but some of the best looking ladyboys I've ever seen. They were all, we'll most of them stunning!! It was something to do to get us out of the rain and was pretty ok.
Overall Patong beach is not somewhere I'd return to.
