So our first stop in the amazing India was Mumbai!!!
We stayed in Andheri which is about 30mins on a train to the main area which added to the excitement as it is a local line and even the laddies carriage is packed full with people it was just amazing!!
On our first day we went into town and had a subway and a little wander before heading back to the hostel as we were both still pretty tired.
The next day Libby wasn't feeling too good so I went with the guy that owned the hostel and another guy from the hostel to visit the temple he goes to every Monday. It was an experience in itself. He takes 3 friends with him and then us 2 so I was the only girl and it is a temple that is purely locals and we were the only non-Hindu in the place.
We worked our way up the hill stopping at the temples on the way so they could say their prayers and we could have a look around. Then we got to the top temple which is a lot bigger and lots of people around. As we walked up to a higher part I got the fright of my life as a monkey came running across the path in front of me, it was then that I noticed they were everywhere.
After the main ceremony had taken place they went to visit 2 buba's (men who they worship) as we walked to the first one they decided to advise us that we would be offered a smoke but it was totally okay to say no (which I did don't worry mum) but was so random sitting as they all got stoned and I must say was the only part of the day that I felt slightly uncomfortable. We then went to the main buba's hut were again they started to smoke but I was glad that we didn't stay for long and then went to get breakfast. It was curried rice that they put sugar on top of it. It was very nice but very spicy so I had to try my best to miss the chillies. Once we were finished we went down to the river where they used to feed the monkeys but told us that they hadn't seen them in such a long time so it was unlikely we would see them. But to our surprise they weren't far and when they called them they came running. Loads of them Big ones, small ones, baby ones they were so cute (apart from when the fought with each other).
So they called down for their friend to bring up bananas to feed them. It was so cool feeding them and watching them peel off the skin and get every last bit of the banana. After they were done they decided to give us a show and started to bomb off the wall and into the deep pond it was incredible and I just can't describe it!!
Over the next few days we went shopping, bought some traditional outfits and went on a tour of the city getting to go to Ghandi's house which was interesting and the gate to India etc. We also got to go to a Bollywood soap but unfortunately they were running very behind so after sitting around all day we got fed our make-up done paid and sent home it as gutting but we still got to meet some awesome people!
Over all Mumbai is a really busy and dirty place but is just like nothing else I have ever seen, so you can deal with those things because you're just so mesmerised by it all.
We booked a sleeper bus next to move up to Udaipur so onto the next adventure.
