Well, left Melbourne last week and got an overnight coach to Adelaide - on which i surprisingly slept for most of the journey arriving in Adelaide at 5am tohevy rain. This rain continued for the next three days - and this was supposedly the driest state capital in the driest state in the driest continent on the world - it was obviously fed up with that accolade and decided to have the wettest April in 7 years - all on the days that i was there. All the Australians couldn't complain as they all kept saying - we need the rain - and since they only had about 30 days of water or something left - they did. Anyway didn't see as much of Adelaide as i might have due to the drenching i got any time i went outside and walking around exploring isn't much fun when it's cold and wet.Â
On the Sunday i went on a day tour of the Barossa Valley to visit 4 wineries and partake in some tastings. The weather was slightly better at this point but not amazing(just letting you know because i'm british and we always talk about the weather) - stopped off at the biggest rocking horse in the world on the way which is at a toy factory. First winery was Jacob's Creek where the tasting started with a sparkling then had about 3 whites, 3 reds and then port, we then had a similar variety at the next cellar door which was a smaller winery and had a dog - which is apparently something a lot of wineries have because there is a book devoted to Wine Dogs. There was another winerey and then lunch and then another winery - was a fun day.Â
On Monday i caught the tram to Glenelg beach - didn't actually go on the beach just along the pier and the seafront and visited Rodney Fox's Shark Experience which was an entertaining little musuem set up by this guy Rodney when he survived a great white shark attack in the 60/70s and then became a shark expert and helped to film jaws amongst other shark related things.Â
Yesterday i checked out Central Market and general wandering to fill the time until i had to leave to get to the airport to fly to Perth - and went back in time a couple of hours, now only 7 hours aheaf of home. Not seen too much of Perth yet as it was dark when i arrived and so far i've just walked along the main shopping bit and come across the internet place i'm in at the moment - so will get exploring after this...
