so after the 12 hour plane journey and leaving at 530pm we arrived in chiule at 1pm how odd. really starnge having 2 of the same days, i guess that means we had like 366days or something this year?!

got a taxi to the hostel, hostelling interantional like a YHA as far as im aware! and decided to have a wander into the town. we walked back to the main rode that we drove down in the taxi and turned right(the wrong way) and walked for a while looking for somthing, anything and there was nothing! like evrything was closed and it was a saterday so we were tres confused! turns out unlike our weekneds everythin closes sat and sun and opens in the week. santiago also is abit of a dump, its alright (in the center) but there is nothing to do at all in the city. so yeah decided to walk back to the hostel to get a map. got 1 and found out where christians hostel was la casa roja. christian we met on the kiwi experinec bus in nz.

he wasnt in so we wandered this time the right way into town, and on the way happned to bump in2 him very lucky. and went for some dinner but as everythin was closed the choice we had was macdonalds or kfc wahoo. attempted to order a big mac with 1 flaw, they dont speak a word of english and then i didnt speak a word of spanish oh dear! fortunatky christian is spanish so he acted as our phrase book over the next few days. we found this everywhere to that no one speaks any english like hello and that is it. but christian has taught us well and we can now get by ordering a meal and in shops etc.

after dinner christian headed back to his hostel and we walked to the square where there were lots of street entertainers and market stalls open. 1 thing we found here to is that they love making public displays of affection aparntly something to do with a sexual revolution after...his name escapes me but the peruvian dictator argh i no his name too just cant think right now but anyway yeah him. we then walked back to our hostel and had a very early night.

sunday we walked in2 town and had some lunch, met christian and had a wander further a field but still nothing was open so the walk didnt last long. went to some pretty dodgy parts of santiago well i bsay dodgy just run down. we walked a long the main road so no wher dangerous just very shaby and i think the poorer end. got bored though as ther really isnt anything to see except the cathedral in the square which we went into and was very beautiful.

that night went for a chinese and then had a beer at christians hostel with kit and will who were also on the kiwi experince with christian. met some guys called john and jeremy who christian met in nz! again an early night though still finding the jet lag hard to deal with get tired but only can sleep for a few hours at a time.

monday we decided to take a day trip so got on a bus to valpariso, on the coast took about an hour n half to get there. we took a guided tour there which wa rubbish didnt breally take us anywher interesting but still nice to see the city.
