Many rain-themed songs running through my head today, ranging from CCR to Dragon to Prince. Its probably a good thing I love rain :)
A 'no plans' day today, which turned out to be a pretty good option as its rained on and off all day with slightly cooler temps than our first few days. We all seemed to be a bit slow and lethargic, so a few movies were the order of the day.
By mid afternoon Leo had had enough of nothing much (and we'd all had enough of him winding his brother up!), the weather seemed to be holding clear for a while, so we headed down the hill to Hanalei Bay to visit the beach. Cody stopped at the edge of the grass and there he stayed, much to our amusement. Leo headed straight into the very gentle surf for a play in the waves, while Chay and I soaked up some sunshine on the beach. The clouds slowly rolled back in within about 20min of our arrival, and not long after our conversation about "We're glad we did the heli tour yesterday as the weather isn't too flash today", the rain came down and went torrential on us. Everyone on the beach quickly gathered their things and ran for their cars, we took the 'we're already wet so no point in running' approach - although Chay still managed to slip over in a muddy puddle near the car park.
A stop at the supermarket for tonight's dinner options (the vote was more of the same, salad, ham and rolls lol!) and we were back home by 5pm. Leo's choice of movie tonight is 'Beetlejuice'.
Some random observations we've made so far - the most popular rental car models are definitely a Ford Focus, and a Ford Mustang convertible, followed closely by people like us who went for a Jeep Wrangler. They're EVERYWHERE lol. You can buy not only beer or wine in the supermarket (like in NZ) but spirits as well. Come on Australia, get with the program!
No decent 'crazies' to report on so far, although the 20-something woman who stumbled her way out of the helicopter from the flight before ours yesterday was definitely worthy of note - boobs falling out of her barely-there crop top, shorts that would be too short on a 5 year old, and sky-high platform wedge heels that she nearly fell off (I can attest to them being dangerous at the best of times lol) I was so riveted by her appearance I didn't think to take a pic, dammit! Her mother wasn't much better in the shoe department, thankfully a little more covered up for the 'small town airport' situation though lol. I guess not everyone can give up their heels even when they're on holiday in a very relaxed tropical environment ;)
