Hi!
Our traveling has consisted of no traveling since our last entry! We are still at the Beachouse in Collaroy we kept extending our stay as we thought we wouldn't get a nicer place for this price nearer Manly and we are only a short bus journey away. We are definitely checking out next week as we are off up the East Coast for a month woo hoo! We looked into getting a camper van, renting cars etc but have decided to do the Oz Experience bus as it is much easier and cheaper. We can get on and off as we like at all the places we have listed to go to.
Since our last update we now have bank accounts, medical cards a few more bikinis and a deeper tan! We caught the ferry back from the city to Manly after setting up our accounts and oh god this 'swell of the ocean' business is a bit risky! We we sat outside admiring the Harbor as we drifted across then the next thing a loud waring speaker came on to say hold tight, it gets bumpy when we cross the head of the Harbor! We ran inside to take cover and we laughed so much out of fear... the thing nearly rolled over! The last thing we needed was a capsized ferry and to be bitten by a Shark!
We have met loads of people that have come and gone during our stay so every day / night is different! At the beginning of last week we decided to play some drinking games with Goon (4 liter bag of wine). Being the friendly and sociable soles we are we went outside to the pool area about midnight and got everyone playing the hula hula game (Hands up high, hands downs low...) For those of you that know this game can be a tad on the noisey side as it is purely chanting!! We thought how great that you can sit up all night with all these people, do what you want and everyone loves it... Not quite the case! The next night we heard round the pool that 'someone' was chanting and there have been numerous complaints so drinking restriction times will now be in place! Ha ha
We have been to Palm Beach (Summer Bay in Home and Away) which was gorgeous. A good day lying in to sun and battling the waves. Not quite the relaxing dip in the sea we were expecting! We have spent most days on the beach opposite our hostel. The waves have been huge and it was even shut the other day - livid! We also had Bluebottle Jellyfish warnings so we didn't go in that day either. On a day where the sea was behaving itself we had a very shallow brief attempt at snorkeling, not quite at pro status yet but I'm sure we'll be scuba diving in no time (yeah right!)
We have been to Manly and went to Shelly Beach for a BBQ, it was so pretty (well it was until we got there!) It is a small beach in a cove that looks across the water onto Manly beach and over Manly. There was an electrical storm which was amazing to watch. No thunder, just loads of lighting and no rain where we watched it from either - fabulous!
We have also been to Taronga Zoo which was an awesome day! We saw so much.. kangaroos, kowalas, elephants, spiders, snakes, gorillas, tigers, lions and many more animals you are likely to find at a zoo! It was a really hot day and the view from the zoo over the Harbor were stunning, bit weird looking at a Giraffe with Sydney Opera House and Business District behind them! Thought it would be a good place to get a job... they said even though we look, smell and act like gorillas we are far too rowdy and would start fights between the others and break the climbing frames with our hefty loads so no luck there!
So basically folks, it's been boiling hot and we have been taking advantage of the gorgeous beach and pool here and of course the Goon!
Missing everyone loads and thanks for the messages!
See ya!
