After 27hours we are sat in belize airport still not at our final destination of Caye Caulker, due to a loss of Liz's luggage. This was ironic give that Emma had been joking that Emma had the jinxed bag (James's non existent luggage a year ago in Belize).
Our journey from home took us first to New York where we had 7hours to kill in the middle of the night- Gail will be pleased to know we did not end up clubbing in Manhattan but sat in an Israeli cafe in Brooklyn after being greeted at the airport by Emma's long lost cousin Richard (aka - David/Dovid/Duvid!)
Our cab journey at 3am from Brooklyn to La Guardia gave us an insight into New York's well spoken Russian cab drivers who enjoyed pointing out the Manhattan skyline and the road accident we passed en route to the airport.
On arrival in Miami we thought we would use our charm to try to upgrade for our final journey to Belize given we had been travelling for over 20hours already. Unfortunately our charm did not work on the stuck up lady at the gate who seemed not to understand the word spare and told us it would be 'twelve hundred dollars'! So we made ourselves comfy in cattle class and then found out our plane was delayed due to navigation system errors- why should this be a problem?!
After eating a plastic cheese and mushy tomato cold toasted repulsive overpriced sandwich we were made completely at ease by the hissing, jeering and hair stroking of a local stoned (aka - for all those over 40 - drugged man) Belizean man.
Wish us luck whilst we watch an empty runway wishing a plane will appear with Liz's luggage!
