Yesterday we spent the day around the Lake Louise area. Another beautiful little town in the heart of the Rockies!
We spent some time in downtown, where there are like maybe 10 shops. All very cute! Then we headed out to the Chateau & lake Louise. The lake was still mostly frozen, which is not surprising since it was snowing there. But it was still lovely to look at, and to see where over winter they had a ice skating rink. curling rink, and ice hockey rink all on the frozen lake.
After Lake Louise, we went to Moraine Lake, which again was still frozen over. We had a lovely scenic drive thru winter wonderland on the way, as well as some heavy snow falls. We saw the cutest chipmunk there (which I have accidently labelled a squirrel in my pics).
Then we headed back down the mountain to check out Emerald Lake (lots of lakes today!). It was thawed and had it's brilliant green/turquoise color showing thru nicely. My pics don't do it justice, it was hard to pic up the colors. It was just sooo pretty!!
Then we headed off to Canmore, and saw another black bear and some more Elk along the way.
Canmore is also a beautiful town, although much bigger than Jasper & lake Louise. There is even a McDonalds here! lol. Our hotel is very nice, and from the window I can see snow capped mountains framing the town. Priceless really.
