So last time I left you I was deciding on what to do for the afternoon before the pub crawl.
Did end up going to the pompidou centre and even the building itself is a work of art. Tubes covering it from head to toe seemingly unimportant. Escalator on the out side of the building etc etc.
But I wasn't here to admire the building I was here to see some pretentious modern art.
Whilst walking through the first exhibition I found more entertainment in watching the upper class French snobs scoffing at the paintings saying things like 'mais non!' or 'mais oui' with their jackets draped over their shoulders along with a tiny man purse, probably to carry their many pairs of weird shaped glasses and their Gauloises cigarettes, high leather boots and tight shirts and loosely worn scarves even thought the weather outside was hot and Sunny.
But that's not to say I didn't enjoy the artwork itself but I do find myself drawn towards the statues and sculptures more than the paintings.
There were two exhibits in particular That I really enjoyed. One was a musical one which involved 5 screens set up in the middle of a large room facing in different directions which were playing a movie and it would change screens seemingly at random sometimes playing over the top of each other making it difficult to pin point where the next part was playing. Thus exhibit also contain 10 snare drums set up around the room that would on occasion chime into the movie, interrupting it, and given the size of the space would echo seemingly into eternity.
The other exhibit was a technology one that is to difficult to describe in the blog but ask me about it some time.
Went to the pub crawl after that and it was worth the wait in the end. It was 3 bars and a club and every place would give you a free shot with every pint or cocktail. Didn't take long to get drunk. Made a few friends and got a couple of contacts in England for web I finally get there.
Caught a taxi home, don't remember getting into bed and woke up with the worst hangover I've had in a long time. Damn you Paris and your cheap and free booze.
A la prochaine
