Ellie's Travels
Had an amazing, exhausting and exhilerating time in Cambodia, have crammed alot into our ten days.
From Siam Reap caught a boat to Battambang. Was supposed to take 5 hours and took 12 and they crammed us on so much at one point I was balancing on the side with my legs hanging off the boat. Then it looked like the boat was sinking and the boat men had to move all the rucksacks about to distribute the weight. Great views along the Mekong River.
Stayed in Battambang for 12 hours, looked at the french colonial building then left.
Got bus to Phomn Penh the capital crazy place, had to stay overnight then got minibus (5 hours to beach Kep), really bumpy and agan they cram you in to make enough money, so we had to hold on overwise you go over a bump and hit your head on the roof, funny though.
We needed to chill out so wanted to lie on beach for the day. The sand looked like it had come from B&Q, pigs on the beach, women washing fleas and dogs hair. Restaurant was a wooded shack, but ate very nice seafood. Next door they were singing so I popped my head round the locals plus Police Officers were getting pissed singing Kareoke.
Didnt stay there long and got open truck to Kampot. Was going to go to Bokor Hill and sleep the night in an abandoned building but would cost too much in transport so stayed in Kampot and organised tour.
Next day took us 1 half hours up a windy hill road to reach abandoned french colonial town. Spooky place the old hotel looked like the one out the Shining, glad we didnt stay night, would have been freaked.
Couple of nights in Kampot then back to captial to stay over night. Went for a top night out to say goodbye to the English couple we have been travelling with. Ate in the market and then looked round the supermarket, bought loads of cool food.
Today arrived in Vietnam after 6 hours journey. The adventure continues...............
