Gilli T:
On the 2nd October after an extremely long bus and boat journey our speed boat docked itself in the beautiful bay of Gilli T. We got off the boat and collected our bags and were mesmerised by how beautiful the beach was. The sand was so white and the sea so blue, it literally looked like it had been photoshopped... But it was real life!
As usual we hadn't booked into a hostel and Gilli hostel was fully booked. After a long search we found a cheap, private bungalow for the two of us on the main strip, next door to the hostel and Gilli hostel said we could still use all their facilities, which we took very literally. We had a lovely dinner at a restaurant just up the strip, where we sat and ate dinner on what can only be described as a bed with a table on the Middle. After dinner we got ready and headed to the strip, as we stepped out from our balcony we bumped into a group of 6 boys who we met on the speed boat. They asked us to come join them and said they knew the club which everyone was going to tonight. So the 8 of us headed to a reggae bar which soon became packed. Lots of drinks and shots were consumed and we danced to a Bob Marley look alike. The boys filled us in on all their drinking rules and we played the standard 'tell her'. When the reggae bar closed we all headed down the strip to a chemist rave. Which was basically a laptop playing music at the front of a chemist with lots of drunk people out the front dancing. When the chemist rave started to quieten down we all headed to the beach to drunkenly star gaze.
We woke up on the morning of the 3rd very hungover as we usually do. The sun was shining strongly and so we sunbathed. We decided that Indonesia was the best place for sunbathing and Lisa soon got a burnt bum when she fell asleep on her front. The pool at Gilli hostel soon turned into a wild pool party and we met everyone who was staying at Gilli hostel. Everyone was doing these vodka jus shots where you pour a sachet of energy powder (which is apparently 3 times stronger than a red bull) into your mouth and then do a shot of disgusting vodka. Ellie did one but poured it all down herself, which a crazy girl called Bridgette then licked off of her boobs. We then went for dinner with Alex and Drew who we met at the pool and had the nicest pizza at a restaurant over looking the sun setting over the sea. After dinner we got ready and met everyone back at the bar at Gilli Hostel. One of the guys called Matt made everyone do more vodka jus shots, but ellie stuck to her normal vodka drinks as the first one didn't go down well. Lisa ended up doing about 6. We then all headed to a club called jiggy jigs and drank more vodka red bulls. We finally ended up in the last club which was huge and rammed with people. We continued drinking, getting very very drunk.
The next morning we went with everyone to Gilli hostels free breakfast, even though we weren't staying there, but they had told us we could use their facilities! We sunbathed for a while at the pool and met a guy called Rob whose friend owned the hostel and the four of us went for lunch. We had the most expensive ceaser salad we've ever had. However, very kindly and luckily Rob offered to pay most of the bill. During the lunch Lisa felt the most hungover she had ever felt and thought she was going to die. Eating caused her whole body to feel like it was tingly and so she ran in the sea in the middle of lunch and the two guys must have thought she was mad. Afterwards the two of us went shopping as standard but there were so many power cuts that it was very difficult and we found out Gilli T was very expensive, however we were happy to actually get to see more of the island as we walked around. We went to the night market for dinner which was traditional Indonesian street food and really tasty and cultural.
On the 5th we checked out of our bungalow after another free breakfast at Gilli hostel and boarded the speed boat back to Bali in hope to go to cacoon beach club for sunset. However, the speed boat took double the time, about three hours. The sea was so rough, the waves were huge and crazy, coming over the side of he boat and the boat was rocking like mad. Water was coming through the doors and the poor people sitting on the top deck were getting absolutely soaked. Loads of people were getting really sea sick and throwing up and the boat began to stink of sick. We finally arrived on the mainland and then had to get a mini bus for over an hour back to Kuta and so we missed the sun set!
