It was a bit of a shock returning to Kuala Lumpur and our cheap hostel, having spent last night in one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in (Ellie's birthday), but we soon got over it and even started to like the new place, even though it was chilled to about -5 degrees each night so they could rent you blankets...
We spent a couple of days wandering round, visiting the Petronas Towers (tallest twin towers in the world), the sky tower (4th highest in the world), and many temples, mosques and tourist sites. We also took in Chinatown, Little India and an area known as the Golden Triangle, which was full of posh shopping malls and fancy restaurants. We even found one place that had nothing but shops like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Rolex, Gucci etc. It was quite a challenge keeping Ellie's hands off my credit cards :)
We stopped for a coffee at one small coffee shop in the middle of the mall that was actually owned by Jackie Chan. For some reason, he wasn't working there that day.
Our next stop is the Cameron Highlands, a little further north and inland. It's full of tea and strawberry plantations, and apparently the local speciality is afternoon tea with scones and jam, so we're looking forward to that.
