I've now been in Ausralia for just under a week and I still can't quite believe I'm here. I've had this planned for so many years and it's finally all come true- I was so emotional leaving home but it changed half way from being upset about leaving to tears of complete amazement; I actually did it! I raised all the money myself and organised everything myself, and it was pretty overwhelming.
Surprisingly, getting 4 trains to London and then 3 flights to Ausralia was incredibly straight-forward and I did it without anything happening- I'm scared for what's to come now! Melbourne weather is pretty strange at the moment and I did not pack the clothes for this weather! It's lovely and sunny and HOT one minute then it clouds over and becomes absolutely freezing! I brought one outfit for cold weather so I'm having to steal all my friend's coats and jumpers- hopefully it won't be long before summer properly sets in and it gets all hot! Although I got caught out in the sun today and have a wonderful bright red face...
In other news- I've got a trial shift at a restaurant tomorrow! They were advertising for new staff so I dropped a CV and reference in and they called me almost immediately to go in for a 'chat' today and they want me in tomorrow. I applied for loads of little cafe jobs in Mordialloc which is literally 10 minutes walk away but this place is a lot further- took me another 30/40 minutes from Mordialloc but so far they're the only ones that replied to me! Any work I can get is brilliant at the moment, just to give me more money to be able to travel!
I'm staying with friends in Melbourne that I met once at my cousin's wedding 7 years ago- they're basically family and I always said they would be first on my travel list, and here I am! It's wonderful having people I know to show me around, and they have the cutest beagles ever! If not a little bit naughty. I'm attempting to pay my way in baked goods, and falling out with their oven in the process- boo!
Next Friday to Sunday we're going on a road trip to the Great Ocean Road (Google it- it's amazing) and I'm so excited! I want to go and explore and see the rest of Australia and who better to start it with than great friends!
It's been a busy first week but now I've sorted most things out I'll be updating pictures and things soon- there was so much to do! But with it all done I can relax and hopefully start working and meeting other cool people :DRalph Waldo Emerson
