I am now in Madrid, or in Moralzarzal at this exact moment. I have been in Spain for about 16 days, and it has been nothing but great so far. Together with my trvelling companion, Gro, I have met loads of nice and interesting people and both seen, done and learnt much. We started our trip in Madrid where we, as the tourists we are, visited Reina Sofia. We did different "touristic" activities, as well as chilled in the park, and the tropical rainforest inside the trainstation..ehh..,but well..that is how it works! Took the train down to Cordoba, where we came straight into the event of the year, the Festival de Cordoba. The atmosphere as well as the weather could not have been better, and from the lightened amusement park to the dancing flamenko bars, I enjoyed it all. My espanõl was having a great time, and being more confident than ever.. After a couple of hours I even had my own flamenco scarf or whatever it is called.. Anyway, it was fun. Cordoba was, and still is, one of my fvorite places on our journey with its pitoresque old ton and the impressive cathedral/mosque. After 3 days or so in Cordoba we travelled on to Seville. Seville, being kown for its beauty and for being, as H.C. Andersen said " perfect if it only had the sea",was an impressing place. the monuments and the buildings were astonishing and so were the people we met in this city(including the Taiwaneese??) Over a few "vino de casa" we got to know our "fellow mates" ,at the hostel, and before the night was over, and so the race, I was, as it can be seen from pictures, marked for life;)We travelled further on to Cadiz, where we stayed at a really chilled and cool pace, but which appeared to us to be somewhat a bit too similar to something cut out from the "Eurotrip or a "surfer´s paradice""or so...anyway, it was great there, and though our three nights, days on the beach as well as in singing flamenco bars and a variety of castels, churches and so on, Cadiz was a place to fall in love with, and I think I did.
After Cadiz we set for Granada, the city we actually had heared a bit about, and were somewhat familiar with..we thought. The place where we stayed was close to Alhambra, which, btw, has to be explored by itself, and can not possibly be described to what it really is. The hostel(or motal if you want) was so and so, but the view, coffee and the terrace (with pool, but which we, however, did not use) was worth it all. Granada was explicit and very charmy. The old streets, the narrow and steep streets, the life and the atmosphere and the history and stories behind everything speaks for itself! As we came in the middle of a film festival we went to see a Corean movie"night and day" which was interesting, but somewhat alternative. This was our second time in the cinema, but I have to saythat this visit gave me more than the first time, which btw was in Cadiz, where we watched "algo pasa en las vegas"....it could hve been better...In Granada I fell in love with both supersol as well as the little shop ¡donde!, which of course was closed the last time we went there, when I finally had figured out what to buy and what to let go.. hmm, but well, that is life;)
From Granada we could not find a more obvious choise than....Jaen. The city was small, but big enough for us as we set out o our advetouros journey of the city. Carlos V showed us all his love, and even though the shoes were smelly, they were still placed in the window.. Oh Carlos. The second day in jaen we spent walking all the way to castilla de Catalina. An amazing place with a view over the city of Jaen as well as all the olivetrees which surrounds the city. The castle had both mysterious rooms, and at some point it felt like a fairytale and a mix between harry potter and aladin. The top two of Jaen would be the coffebar, on the corner(which simply can not be missed) as well as the castle, the pride of Jaen! After Jaen we again returned to Madrid. Spent the evening in Prado together with Goya!We took a day in Toleo, where we played cards and visited a few museums. It was all good, and it still is!
