Hi from cloudy Seminole Canyon State Park ( near Del Rio, close to the Mexican border again),
First of all, forgot to tell you that when we were in Brownsville we went to the Gladys Porter Zoo ~ it has no cages, just moats to keep animals where they should be and is world-famous for it's breeding programmes for endangered species ~ we saw some animals that are almost extinct in the wild.
From Brownsville we went to Mustang Island , just outside Corpus Christi. There are lots of oil refineries in the area and also drilling platforms in the ocean ~ from our campground we could see 18 rigs - one or two only a mile or so off-shore but most way out. Lots of fresh seafood there and we had some delicious huge shrimp!! The woman at the seafood store was very friendly and gave us some hush-puppies to have with the shrimp. They are basically balls of cornmeal mixed with milk, egg and seasonings that you lightly fry, not bad. We did some birding on the island but unfortunately after the first couple of days the weather wasn't great. The day we were supposed to leave it got really windy and overnight there was thunder and rain and the wind was so strongly the trailer was rocking! To leave the island we had to drive over a long causeway then a high bridge and with winds gusting to 70 mph we decided to stay another day.
We are now in Seminole Canyon State park ~ in desert country again, just mesquite shrubs and a few flowering yucca plants. There are Indian pictographs in the canyon. I had planned to go for a long walk today (while Malcolm watches the hockey trades) but it is cold, overcast and drizzly so made muffins and catching up with you instead.
Oh, I can se a little blue sky so may get to go walking yet.
Hope all is well with you,
love, Malcolm and Elinor

Terry McCarthy Send muffins. So Malcolm studies hockey all year long for the pool. He's just lucky he's leading. Sounds like you are having a good time. We're not trying to figure out the new system at Granite Claims.
