well.. we still can't quite believe we're in Oz.. but we definately are: spent the afternoon on the beach and just had snags from the barbeee.
Miraculously we managed to get a decent nights sleep at our first hostel: Gilligan's - which is famous for non-stop partying, just the thing for jet lag.. not. We then went to pick up our campervan, which is now named "wrong way down" or "big silver wizard", it's surprisingly comfy and Danny's got used to driving it now. We had a quite eventful first night as we assumed we could park up and sleep at the quiet end of the esplanade in Cairns, but got woken up by a policeman banging on the roof at about 11:30 telling us to move on. We've now given up on the idea of camping in random places and have booked ourselves in to this pretty cool hostel/campsite for the night, in Port Douglas (just north of Cairns).
We've also finally made it to the coastline which we'll be driving down for the next 5/6 weeks, pretty stunning beaches, they go on for miles! We stopped at a Ellis Beach, about 20mins from Cairns, for the afternoon and chilled out abit. At this time of year it's Jellyfish season so you have to be really carefull, which was abit daunting, but we just stayed in the nice, safe netted area of the sea!
We're both still abit knackered because of the heat but are desperately trying to party - so better go get another beer! Missing you all loads - wish you were here!!!
