Today we have been to the Australian Grand Prix. We had thought about going for a while before we left England but hadn't got around to sorting it, so yesterday we went and bought general admission tickets for the Saturday. We got a free tram to the park where the track was, arriving at around 11am and had a wander around all the merchandise stores and ended up buying matching hats!
The on track events didn't begin properly until the afternoon, so we mooched around all the car displays and pit stop areas which was cool. We also managed to catch a stunt motorbike show where they did back flips and twists in the air. Before qualifying there was a v8 supercar race which was ok but wasn't that exciting as the safety car was out for most of it. Qualifying was pretty exciting as the weather kept changing every 10mins, one second it was boiling hot sun, the next lightning and rain. Right on the last lap of qualifying the Australian driver who is new this season I think got the fastest lap and was about to qualify first, and then right at the last moment Hamilton came and overtook him. All the Aussies around us were really disappointed but I accidentally shouted wooooo really loudly. A lesson on how not to make friends in Australia!
