Yesterday we had a trip to Australia zoo, or the Steve Irwin zoo as it is also known who was the 'crocodile hunter' who was killed back in 2006. Today the zoo is run by his wife and family. We managed to get away with using our student cards that never expired for cheap entry. Because we'd already visited several zoos and wildlife parks in Australia we were not overly bothered about seeing every single animal and so we prioritised our time to the animal shows. First up was the crocodile show, which ended up also being a bird show too. First of all Bindi performed some songs (we didn't know who she was for ages but apparently it's Steve Irwin's daughter). She's only 15 but she's already a singer, tv presenter and performer. Quite an achievement. Next were the birds which were so cool, loads of new friends for Jimmy. Before the crocs came out the Irwin family themselves came out which I wasn't expecting, and explained about the crocs. The youngest Irwin who is only 10 years then proceeded to feed a croc! Apparently now that he's 10 he's old enough to do it. Finally a massive croc came out, apparently he hates lawn mowers and had eaten 4 of them before he was rescued and taken to the zoo. They told everyone how not to act when in croc territory, and the behaviours that crocs do in the wild. Very interesting.
