Hey peoples i hope all is well with you im on the next stop of my world tour......CHINA!!!!!!! I left Hong Kong on the 24th January and got a ferry to Shenzhen, and then caught a flight to Shanghai. Shenzhen gave me my first insight into China, and what an insight it was i thought i was in Baghdad!!! The roads and traffic were something you had to see to believe NOBODY kept to lanes and it turned out to be a 50 car (and bicycle) pile up to get into the airport!!!!!
We arrived into Shanghai quite late with only a telephone conversation to say that a room was reserved (although the dude hardly spoke English...all he said was YES YES VERY GOOD!!!!!) We stepped out of the airport and thought......what now!!!!! We managed to jump on a bus that took us into central Shanghai and got a taxi to the wrong place which meant we had to walk around for an hour and not 1 person spoke a WORD of english!!!!! Whoever said China was a hard place to visit was not wrong!!!!!!!! We are staying at a hostel with about 7 other people in it. The room is well kept and it works out to about 4 quid a night!!!!
If anyone has been to Shanghai before they will tell you that the best place to visit is Yu Gardens and the old district....they would be right it is very beautiful. Shanghai also has a very dramatic skyline however if you have visited Hong Kong then it doesn't really match up! Im waiting for the pollution to clear to take some photos as we cant really see much at the moment!!!! (Might be here for a while looks like!). One other thing we have experienced for the first time is the scams people try and the CONSTANT attention u receive from people trying to sell u fake watches, shoes, pens or foot massages. There was a note i read in the hostel about people trying to scam u (were students and speak English...come with us!!!). As soon as we got outside on the first day......."were students and speak English!" They tried to engage us in converstaion and one of the girls was fit so i was speaking to her but then i clocked onto what they were doing so i said we had to GO!!!! One of the dudes told me i was handsome too so me and Ryan raised the f*** out of there quick!!!!!
Im going to be in Shanghai for anothe 3 or 4 days then im getting a train to Beijing to meet up with Ryan (he is leaving tomorrow to meet his girl in the north of China somewhere).
Sorry for my lack of photos this computer is so slow and i still cant find an internet cafe so u guys gonna have to wait a bit longer!!!!!!
Until next time world
