Last night was great fun, pizza at the resturant was nice and quite good value and sat up with some (shockingly bad) red wine chatting, never got to the disco! then met some lost canadians who took up residence in eddies (mens only) tent!
Got up quite early this morning (freezing cold!) to find I had a very sore throat and a cold, great start, Im ignoring it! caught the 8.30 bus from the camping to the local metro station and from there into rome (takes about 45 mins and 15mins on the bus) the weather today was absoloutly gorgeous!!! hot and sunny spent 10 hours in rome itself excluding traveling, saw all the big sights and then spent a lot of time going round the outskirts, little streets with no or very few tourists andywhere to be seen. Rome is lovely, probablly almost better a second time because you're not worrying so much about seeing all the sights and have time to take in the less busy outskirts where the traffic is less bad.
Bought some bread and ham (though i havnt eaten any due to forementioned throat) cherries (ed didnt get much of a look in there, scoffed most of them) cakes and drinks and spent a few hours through the day sitting in differnt piazza's eating and relaxing. Found one tiny piazza and ate the most delicious ice cream ever!!! The last piazza we sat in was piazza navona which was huge and supprisingly un touristy, three guys turned up and started playing really well (guitar, accordian and an awesome drummer!) we then went to a cheap place and had some authentic pasta, wasnt the place we were intneding to eat at because when we turned up there (recomended in guide book) it appeared to have caught fire!!! lots of annoyed looking chefs and firemen outside!
caught train back to camping and about to go and watch some football, up at 5.30am tomorrow to go to pompei!
Love to all
