We wanted to go out on the kayaks, but 2 French guys had commandeered 1 each to go fishing, instead of doubling up and freeing one up for someone else to use. Edd stood on the beach for a while, trying to get their attention as they'd had them the whole of the day before and all morning again, but they didn't come back to shore and continued to fish in an area where we knew there was nothing to catch. Nothing worthwhile anyway, unless you fancied angel fish on a sandwich. Probably quite boney. Anyway, he mumbled something about the French and then told me to get my sandals on - we were rock climbing to the far right to see what was there to explore.
We avoided all the dark rocks; I'd learnt from experience that they were the slippery numbers. It was a precarious 45 minute journey that included a bit of bush whacking. We eventually ended up round about where we needed to be I was done with the rocking climbing and needed to cool off - its not that I minded the rock climbing, but it was far to hot and I am by no means a mountain goat.
I went out in my sandals, changed to my flippers and then threw my shoes back to Edd to put on our pile of stuff. He then waded out in his swimming shoes to me and we spat and polished the inside of our masks and swam out.
There wasn't anything new on the reefs further down; I was surprised that there were no sharks at all and the fish weren't particularly big either. I suddenly got stung on my right arm and flinched. I then got stung on the back of my right leg and I assume the jellyfish somehow got caught in my swimming costume, as it stung me repeatedly. My left leg then took a hammering and I'd had enough. The tiny jellies looked like plastic bags, half the size of your palm, with tiny black spots on, a bit like mold. There weren't millions of them about, but enough to let you know that you were in their space and they weren't happy about it. Sea urchins are the oceans pin cushions, and jellyfish are their messengers.
Edd had been stung on his arms, back and stomach as well, so it was time to get on the high time and vamoose. Which we subsequently did. We started to swim back and realized how far we'd gone out to sea. I then lead the way back to the beach, this time taking the low road, but avoiding all the black rocks with death sentences.
We had a shower, washed our things and checked the time: we'd been out for 3 hours, including the rock climbing expedition; we were both hungry and exhausted. It was time for food. (We'd have preferred pizza, but the Italian place was closed on weekends).
We fetched Cip and made our way to the usual restaurant, ordering a beef dish as all their seafood was finished. Edd and Cip ordered an additional omelet thing with BBQ chicken and sweet corn inside. They brought us 2 chicken dishes and we sent the supposed beef dish back - 10 minutes later we got the correct food and new (warm) rice. The food was delicious, as usual, if a little spicy and we finished the lot.
We walked back to our rooms and had a lie down; I continued to read my book while Edd had a nap. He woke up a bit later and he and Cip had drinks on the balcony while I sat in our room and continued to read. Quite antisocial, but I was coming to the end and it was getting seriously juicy.
Edd then came inside as Cip was going to go for a walk around the centre and he got into bed. We had had a long day of snorkeling and were both really tired; I however continued to read my book until it was done, which ended up being after 11pm. Edd was already sound asleep and I joined him shortly afterwards.
