Having worked out the internet connection in the Shinjuku Washington Hotell, thought I may as well update already (mainly to keep myself awake until an acceptable dinner time). The 11 hour flight wasn't too bad, watched a few films and dozed a bit but more or less missed an entire night's sleep and landed into 9am Tokyo with little option but to plough on with the day.
Negotiated customs etc easily enough and managed to sort out Japan Rail Pass out properly and soon on a train from Narita Airport to Shinjuku in Tokyo. Managed to head in roughly right direction of the hotel and finally spotted it just as we were about to give up and see if Lonely Planet would provide better guidance.
Left our bags at the hotel and headed straight out until our room was ready. Got a quick, much needed drink (at Burger King!) and carried on with the walk checking out the area in a big circle and back to the hotel to check in and go to our room. Soon enough back out again to find the Park Hyatt (Lost in Translation) which is very close to our hotel and headed up to the 41st floor where the hotel starts. Great view out over Tokyo and a stunning hotel. Down and checked out Shinjuku-Chuo koen park which has a cool temple/shrine in its grounds which was impressive and there was even a Japanese couple all dressed up having their wedding photos done - good timing by us. In the search for possible dinner restaurants also then had quick look through the Hilton before back to the room for a quick rest. Dinner soon then an early night for much needed sleep.

Alison Dear Hel and Edd, Missing you both already! You seem to have been busy - I did wonder about you losing a night's sleep, essentially. Best to try to keep going, as you did. I am trying to get ready to depart to Florida tomorrow - too much to do, too little time. Lots of love for now - keep safe, M x / Alison xx
