Ed is now fully qualified open water ddiver!! Hurrah!!
On his first day at 'dive school' he spent the morning in the class room and the afteroon in the pool getting used to the equipment and learning skills he would need. I spent the morning trying to stop our room being invaded by ants who had found something interesting in my bag and were exploring every nook nd cranny of everything i owned! once my misson was complete and i was satisfied that i'd killed enough to have my revenge i went on the beach and worked on my tan! In the afternoon I went to explore the island a bit ad walked out over the cliffs to another bay and saw some beautiful veiws around the coast, also saw a hugh monitor lizard rummaging in the garbage which was equally as beautiful in my opinion!
Next day Ed spent the morning in the class room again then in the afternoon his group ( 6 of them) went out to do some shallow water diving in a place called the Japanese gardens. I went with them to do some snorkling ( this was very brave on my part as i was on me own out there!)  While they were all getting in there gear and doing all the buddy check stuff ( which from an outsiders point of veiw is rather amussing! Watching a bunch of people in scuber gear they can heardly lift waddle about a boat thats rocking around theen fling themselves into the water james bond styleee is quite a sight!!). One of the instructors pushed me in and insisted it was easier that way, well it didn't feel it s a drank half the ocean and flapped about like fish out of water!! I snorkled around the bay for a while ad there were loads of beautiful fish everywhere - they didnt seem to care much that you were swimming with them, in fact i neary ad a head on collision with a little black and white one that was playing chicken with me! I chilled out on the boat until the guys came back from diving and we made our way back to the resort over some really choppy water - and soe of you will know that face i pull when fghting sea sickness - i had that look on my face for the next hour!!Â
On thursday Ed had to take an exam in the morning and went diving up to 12 meters in the afternoon. I spent the morning on the beach and then in the afternoon went to explor the other side of the island. I climbed a mountin in the blistering heat in flip flops only to get to the top and find i had to go back down again ( my body doesn't like un-nessicary ups!! La la knows this!!) The heavens opened and i got drenched, then a bunch of squirrels frighten me ( i was thinking about tigers at the time!) only to disscover i had to go back the way i'd come! But all in all it was a lovely walk with some stunning veiws and 'd really earnt my dinner!!
Friday morning ed got up early to do his last dive at 18 meters so i packed our stuff and checked out of the dive resort into another resort down the road so we could stay a couple extra days. I went down on the beach and ed joined me when they got back. in the evening they showed a film of eds group doing their last dive. It was wicked to see what they'd been up to and to see all the animals they'd been swimming with- although ed was busted kissing another girl under water!! This is what he told me . . . " we had to, the instructor told us to! ( all in that winey voice you hear when they're grovling!) It all happened so quickly . . ." Well someone please tell me I have to go to the set of lost and find soyer!! That night a bunch of us went out to a beach bar in town and let our hair down - not that i'd been stressing over tests but what can ya do!! If yu can't beat em' join em!
Saturday we had a lie in then hired a quad to explore the rest of the island. We hadn't bee gone more than ten minutes before i was covered in mud from a pudle we'd early got stuck in! It was very funny!! We got changed and decided to go the other way! The roads ( if you can call them that) are quite scary! All we wanted to do was find a nice little beach and go for a swim but every road we went down ended up in us skiddingdown a hill, hoping we'd stop before we hit something or flipped ourselves! Getting back up the hills was interestting too, I had to get off at one point while ed skidding and slide in every direction but up! We got there eventually nd when we took the quad back it was caked in mud!! it was so much fun, and in England you'd have to pay 80 odd quid for a half day quad adventure, we got the whole day for less than a tenner! Bargin!!!
Sunday morning we caught the ferry over to Ko Pangnan. some of the people off eds course were there too so we hada drink then George and Soraya went in one direction and me, ed and a guy called james got a truck up to the north east coast, it was a very bumpy dust ride but we got to see alot of the island between wiping dirt out our eyes! Our resort is on the beach of a beautiful bay and lovely warm waters! Paradise! We chilled out on the beach for the afternoon ad then a storm hit in the early evening and we were deafened by thunder or a bit. We had dinner on the beach and made the most of happy hour!
Yesterday we spent the morning on the beach then in the afternoon the girls came up from their resort and we got a taxi out to a road that leads to a waterfall. we walked for about 20 minutes on a dirt road through jungle before we reached it.  This waterfall however was . . . . . not what we would class as a waterfall! It was very beautiful but really just some water bbbling over rocks! The heavens suddenly opened and we were pelted with rain! We ran to the trees for shelter but it was raining so hard it didn't make a difference! When it finally stopped we rang out our clothes and decided to walk further for more adventure! An hour later we still hadn't got anywhere and it was starting to turn to dusk! The girls headed back to their bikes but ed me and james walked on hoping to find a boat at the coast to take us back - no such luck! Although we did manage to hitch a lift with a guy who was going to the main road and then we walked for another half hour before hitchin another lift back to our resort just in time for happy hour!! Bonus!! It was an interesting day but we had fun!
we've got one week left and not really sure where we're headed tomorrow but with a choice between paradise beaches and er . . . . pparadise beaches i'm sure we'll make the right choice! x Â
