Well I have survived my first day in Denmark! I bussed to the city of Copenhagen (an hours trip) and spent the day wandering the streets. I avoided the museums today and they tend to be over expensive and over crowded. There is one or two I wouldn't mind checking out, so I might return. I did however take one of those hallmark double decker red tour busses :D (I just had too lol) it was an hour long tour and involved a lot of playing the wrong descriptions over the speakers but it was worth the 170 krones (25€, who knows what in Canadian anymore. Too many currencies!) one of the stops was at the famous little mermaid statue. All of us tourists got off the buss to take photos of ourselves standing beside her. One by one each of us handed our camera over and got as close as we dared avoiding the icy waters around her. Being me, I decided to climb right up on the rocks around her... And being me, I slipped. Soaking my right foot and leg up to my shin... Hey at least I made a good dozen bored tourists laugh! Unfortunately it's winter here and it didn't take long for my foot/leg to freeze, my cure? I had ice-cream lol
The city was not nearly as nice as Groningen, lots of construction and boring typical shops we get in Canada and everywhere else. There were two musicians playing near the town hall that were very enjoyable to see and listen too. The one gentlemen played his guitar and sang while his Malamute slept in a little tent/duffle bag thing beside him. It was adorable! The other playing a wind instrument (there are too many I am terrible when it comes to them) and it sounded absolutely beautiful if it hadn't been so crowded I could have sat and listened for hours. Oh and I discovered a Danish food I love! It's a type of liver spread on a really delicious health bread topped with pickled beats. I want to live off it for the next week! I am staying with a family of four. They have two boys, 7 and 3. Neither of the kids know English so they looked at me a bit weird at first, but the youngest at least has warmed up to me. I will be baby sitting on Saturday so that will be the real test. I am hoping to go to Malmo, Sweden tomorrow. I am really excited about that! I am sure I have missed a lot, but I think that's it for now.
Enjoy!
