We spent 4th of July in Acadia and Bar Harbor. We went back into Acadia and the park was empty compared to the day before. We went by the precipice trail. It was closed due to nesting peregrine falcons. There were 2 rangers stationed there with telescopes focused on the falcons. We took a look and talked with the rangers for a bit.
Next we went to Thunder Hole where the waves make a thunderous sound during an incoming tide. We were at low tide so there was not a loud sound when we saw it.
Next we headed over to Bar Harbor to walk across the sand dune too Bar Island. The sand dune is traversable during low tide. During high tide it's under 4ft of water. If you get stuck on the island during high tide the only way off is to call a water taxi for $150. We walked around the island for a while and soaked up the beautiful views. When it was time for kayaking we walked back over to Bar Harbor.
After our kayaking trip we walked to the pier to watch the fireworks. The show was great and lasted almost 30 minutes. Then we climbed into our car and headed to Bangor for our room for the night.
