A little slow to check you blog site. Ditto to all the comments on your photos. You are looking especially well; being "sprung" for break seems to agree with you. Thanks for taking the time and fuss to keep the blog updated for us. sds

Great photos taken in Spain. Which city did you visit and what's the name of the castle ruins? I guess I'm requesting a blog update on the trip to Spain!

I love to visit your site and see all the pictures and watch the video of the dance. Even though people may seldom post messages your efforts are appreciated! Love, Beck

A trip to Spain sounds great! When do you leave--and return to Edinburgh?

I love the design of the natural history museum! And the case for Mother Earth as bipolar is cute - your humour or theirs? The Parliment building might take some getting used to, even for a non-Scot, but I think it could grow on me. Thanks for the new posting and reassurance that you get a little time off for good behavior, or whatever. sds

Wow - two weeks without a spare moment for blogging! No sarcasm, Emma - Ed had a feeling that the study pace at EU might be a bit steeper than in American U.'s. We're thinking of you.
Big HUGS,
Sandra

you're hardcore emma. I was in an impoverished town in India, and I still had some form of tv...even if power shading rendered it useless most of the time. and mandie -- you are the pants.
Mandie (Pants?)
Emma, I miss you already, I think more actually than I normally do because you aren't just two hours away anymore. But I must tell you that I love your photos because the pictures, and especially captions are so very you I was laughing out loud because it was like I was hearing you say it.
I'm going to be passing along your blogsite to practically everyone I know, so I expect regular updates!
And PS I think one of those red phone booths would make an EXCELLENT shower!

Love the photos you have posted. Would like to know more about "The Gang." Are the ladies your suite mates? Names and home town, country. What about the guys?

I've got your block narrowed down on Satallite (Google Map) and would like to pinpoint your flat more specifically. Approaching E. Newington Pl from Newington Rd, northbound - are you before E Preston St Ln, or passed? Estimating from the tops of buildings, I'm guessing you must be past Preston. And, if I'm approximating front doors correctly, combined with how I think your garden photo might appear from arial view, I'm thinking you might be the 3rd door past Preston. How close am I?
Your friends look like a great bunch. Hope you get to experience more traditional Scots music, sometime; it's interesting how pop cultures meet and mix. I'm thinking you haven't had a go at the haggis yet or you would have commented?

Love the pictures. Looks justs like it did 25 years ago. The man who imported most of the liquor into Bermuda gave us a letter of introduction to the director of the Dewars factory so in our travels we went there. We were in jeans and driving a tiny Morris Mini and much to our surprise the place is surrounded by high fences and armed guards. They take their scotch very seriously. Brazen wenches that we were, we showed them our letter. They rolled out the red carpet and gave us a two hour private tour. To this day, I can still recognize the smell of Dewars. Love, Beck

Hi Emma,
Your travel blog is beyond cool! Ed has been reading blogs for years, though he's never posted his own. This is my first.
As far as I'm concerned, most of your pictures approach works of art. You can really point a camera, girl. The city is as beautiful as you say and I love that you include whimsey pictures - the ones that catch your eye because they strike you in some fanciful way.
I actually WOULD like a few more details on your Medieval Art class. My history is abominable - start with range of dates it covers. Who are artists of this period? What sort of things characterize medieval art? Don't need a whole volume, just a thumbnail as might be posted as a course description. For your other classes, too.
(Cayenne is chasing the letters as I type them on the screen. It was cuter when he was tiny and I could still see most of the screen around him. Now it's slightly cute when he initially joins in but then mostly annoying. When he was little, he could play with the screen as long as you could put up with the interference; now, he gets bored and starts taking a bath - still blocking the screen, of course.)
Love the private garden arrangement with kitchen window access. Am interested in seeing photos of the garden as the seasons change, yes? And a few of your flat e.g. front door, back door, some interior shots that do not intrude on privacy of your roomies. Do the Scots have their own slang term for "roomies"?
For myself, I've ended the year/begun the new with an attract89999999ion (guess who, again) to mandalas - got a calendar of Celtic mandala designs for my office which I only just linked to the "cooincidence" of a Christmas wishlist item for my dad - a book on creating mandala's by Susanne Fincher. She approaches mandala work as I do dreamwork. Very interesting, plus it gives me a nice excuse to get a fresh set of colored pens and nice drawing paper. I've started a series to see where it leads. It's such a juicy process to play with dashing brilliant colors onto eggshell-textured paper. Maybe I'll see about creating a blog site of my own. You've quite inspired me, Emma.
