brrrrr it's chilly here. We're experiencing a chilly winter apparantly. Most mornings we have to chuck a kettle of water over Cerys the car, but thankfully we hop straight onto the main road and we're a 5 mile drive to work so we dont have to go into the icy areas.
Work is still going really well. I am now in my ninth week which has gone very quickly. I have the mickey taken out of my accent on a daily basis which keeps everyone amused. I am finding other ways to retaliate as i realise i'm outnumbered when it comes to kiwi abuse! I am incorporating the words 'awesome' and 'heaps' into my vocabulary when around kiwis as that seems to be a good way of communicating!!! Rich is still valeting, he had an interview offer last week but decided not to pursue it as it was a deadend in terms of future development etc. He now has some feedback about his work which is enabling him to enjoy it more than he was. Still no more news on the residency from immigration - however we have booked the cats in for another month!! If anyone goes near Billericay and wants to visit Molly & Tish, give us a shout and we'll give you drections!!
So other than work, what else have we been up to...we saw the mighty All Blacks play a couple of Saturdays ago v the Springboks. The haka was just awesome, they had a mega microphone so their shouting reverberated around the stadium - quite something to witness. Unfortunately the game wasn't quite as impressive even thought the ABs won convincingly. We shall go and see them again one day, but for now they have won the Tri-nations and later in the year they will be on their way to France for the world cup. TV coverage of this is thankfully on mainstream TV here so we shall be able to keep our eye on that.
We had Leah and Richard over for drinks and dinner as well that weekend. Bit of a late night that one! we have a return visit lined up which involves a dip in their spa and looking at the stars which sounds very cool. We shall certainly be putting some pennies to one side for one of these spa things when we buy our on house, they sound fab. We also had Andy my colleague and his wife Jo and 18month old daughter Holly over for tea last weekend - I do PA work for Andy so it's nice to get to know him and his family a bit better. We also have some drinking lined up in the future with Andy; Jo will join us after giving birth to their second child in October!!
Rich has just joined the local gym, which is where he is tonight. He has now been three times which amazingly all forms part of his assessment! It seems a very friendly not very intimidating place which is only a positive. I am working out how many books i can buy with my equivalent of his membership :-) Talking of books, harry potter....i got mine saturday morning, i must admit our thought the release time here (11am Sat morning) was more favourble than midnight. Bet there were some bleary eyes at school and work Monday morning. I'm about 30 pages from the end and really I should be reading it now......
Soon that note, I think tha'ts probably about it for now...we're off to Tekapo again this weekend!! We have booked to do the stargazing tour which we're really looking forward to. Tomorrow night I'm going to the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce meeting to do a little speech on how Canstaff have helped me. Apparantly there will be 100 people there...eek. No where did i put my bottle of cider??
Hope none of you have been affected by the flooding, we're getting lots of coverage of that on the TV here, sounds pretty horrendous. So stay safe, and if you get the chance drop us a line. We'll put some more pics on the blog up after the weekend.
Love Deb and Rich xx
