Hello all,
Well what can I say about Venice - it is a spectacular city made up of multiple canals and side alleys that zig zag there way through the town. This made it quite challenging to navigate our way through, but we managed to find the major sights - Rialto Bridge and San Marco square.
On the first evening we decided to experience the lifestyle of having a coffee on San Marco square. With an orchestra playing in the background, we ordered a magnificent coffee from a local italian restaraunt. It was a little expensive (15 euros a coffee) but it was worth the experience.
The next day we did a trip to Murano where we looked at the various murano glass figurine and jewellery. After walking around for a while (waiting for the girls to finish their shopping) we hit the streets of Venice for some more traditional shopping. That night we went for a local play which explains the history of Venice. Honestly the play was boring (nice work Jacky and Tan), but it was still interesting to learn some facts about the city.
On our final day we had organised a wine tour to some local venecian wineries. As this was a personalised tour (only the 6 of us), it was really great to sample some beautiful local wines, olive oils and cheeses, without having to deal with other tourists. Being only a small group, the tour guide explained the wines to us in details and also how to taste it correctly. It was very educational experience.
On our way home we stop over at the shopping outlet mall, where Kat and myself bought new leather jackets. While all the major stores were at this outlet (Prada, Armani, Burberry etc) there were not any major sales so we didn't blow the budget - keeping the money for Paris and New York.
Well that is Venice. Zurich is our next stop, so will post a blog and photos when I get a chance.
