Yeah, my first blog. I'm still at home, but might as well give you guys an update. The doorbell rang two days ago, and there it was, my passport, including a new blue sticker. Got my 9 month tourist visa, so I'm allowed to stay in New Zealand till June 2009 !
In the meanwhile I'm kinda working my ass off right now. I'm working as a residential youth worker, and they asked me to work in a holiday project. We take care (24 hours a day) for kids and teens who don't have a place to go to during their school holidays while their fosterparents have some time off with their own kids. It's a pretty tight time schedule, so I'm on duty about 70 hours (!) a week. Most shifts are from 11 am till 11 am the next day, and I'm getting pretty tired. I do not sleep very well, knowing I'm responsible for 10 kids at night. But apart from that it's a cool job, I love working with kids. Gives me some time to play football and go to the swimming pool as well, so it's not that bad ey !
And...it's good for my bank account. So I guess I do have some money to spend in New Zealand, and it might take a while before it's all gone. Well, if I don't spend it all jumping from bridges on a elastic rope, or from planes on a parachute. Kawarau Bridge is still waiting for me......AAAAAAHHHHH.
I'm doing the Army Reserves job till the 6th of september, walking the Airborne March in Arnhem that last day, and we have some planned trainings for that. So yesterday evening I was (sleep)walking with a backpack on to get used to walking on those damn armyboots. Gives me some endurance for the hikes I'm planning to do in Kiwiland too (on my own boots, easypeasy) !
O, and yeah, I'm busy getting all my papers ready, applying for jobs online, thinking bout stuff to take with me. But I just have little time for that coz of job right now.
Can't wait to get back in New Zealand and meet up with my NZ buddies !!!!
I'll keep u all updated, just 7 weeks to go !!!!!
